GALAXY QUEST’S NEW SCHEDULING

Jacob Gerritsen, host of Galaxy Quest Observatory, remains a committed member of CMAS and a true enthusiast of astronomy; yet, due to welcome if somewhat erratic changes in his schedule, we have had to re-think how we plan for star parties at Galaxy Quest. In short, he can plan for star parties maybe a month in advance, but not further ahead. The solution will be to write a schedule that alternates star parties only at Brower and DRA, and to then substitute a third of those with parties at Galaxy Quest as the year progresses. Unlike today’s urgent relocating of tomorrow’s star party, these adjustments should always be planned closer to a month in advance. The intention is to continue to hold star parties at all three locations, with equal time at each.
