Hello CMAS,
There was a meeting of the Acadia Night Sky Festival steering committee this afternoon. Many events for a festival were considered for this unusual year from showing movies outdoors (the state won’t allow it without fixed seating spaced 6‘ apart; lawn chairs not allowed) to the evening Star Sightseeing bo
at cruises (too low capacity with social distancing to even pay for fuel.) The only event left will be the regular ANP Stars Over Sand Beach laser sky tours (limited to 50 people, socially spaced.) All star parties are cancelled (too much risk from touching of focusers and eyes to eye pieces.) The National Park Service pulled out of the Seawall Star Party last summer and the Cadillac Mountain Star Party was cancelled in February before the Pandemic started. Visitors are invited to enjoy the dark skies of Acadia but the 2020 Acadia Night Sky Festival is officially cancelled. An official announcement will be put up on the http://www.acadianightskyfestival.org web site, shortly.
