Hello, CMAS!

STAR PARTIES AT BROWER OBSERVATORY
Saturday, January 25, 2025, 5:00pm
Saturday, February 1, 2025, 5:00pm

Events on the planet Jupiter can unfold in just an hour, whereas the
Messier objects appear unchanged in a human lifetime. These star parties
will feature dynamic transits on Jupiter: The Great Red Spot will journey
from one side of Jupiter to the other, as will the shadow of its moon Io.
By good luck, both parties will include both types of transits.

We’ll be starting as early as the transits, at 5:00pm on both nights. If
conditions are unusually clear, we’ll see them in the new
Trischiefspiegler, revealing more detail than one would see in any other
telescope. If not, then Brower is still ready for planet season with many
fine planetary telescopes. In honor of the current cold spell, a warming
room will be available in Colin’s nearby house.
