Hello, CMAS!

Forwarded below, via our listserv, is a message from Randy L. Ewins, the
volunteer from the Friends of Acadia who is working with the Park to
coordinate this year's Festival. We all know how much work it was for
Dwight these many years, so let's do all we can to ease Randy through the
first season of his new job.

Clear skies,

Jon Silverman, President
Central Maine Astronomical Society

Dear, Ms Chesler, Mr, McDonagh, Mr. Burk, Mr. Silverman, Mr. Sawyer, Mr.
Deneen, Mr. LaForge, Mr, Lanpher and Mr. Burgess:

My name is Randy Ewins, I am contacting you on behalf of Acadia National
Park *(ANP), *located on beautiful Mount Desert Island, in Bar Harbor,
Maine.

You may be familiar with the annual Acadia Night Sky Festival *(ANSF*)
based on your organization's prior-year's participation. In past years,
Dwight Lanpher successfully coordinated with you and your club's member's
regarding their participation in the ANSF events. I was recently asked to
assist the Park with that task this year. I apologize in advance for the
late advisement of this notification and sincerely appreciate your sense of
urgency and understanding in your response.

*The **11th Annual Acadia Night Sky Festival** is just **six (6) weeks
away!* The ANSF will take place, September 25 through 29, 2019. There
will be multiple events and venues for astronomers to set up their
telescopes and binoculars to view the incredible skies over Acadia National
Park. Each year the crowds grow larger as visitors enjoy the opportunity
to see the stars and planets like never before and listen to presentations
with expert subject manner. I was speaking with one of your club members
last year and he mentioned that, "this was his sixth year at ANSF, and it
is one of the best stargazing events he attends". The success of past
Night Sky Festivals was made possible by the voluntary participation of
your club's members. *Thank you!*

I am writing to you today to *request your assistance* to facilitate me
with the means to get information out to your club members in the most
expedient and efficient manner, by either:
1. Providing this email address (*acadiastars at gmail.com
<acadiastars at gmail.com>*) temporary access to your club's moderated list
server,
2. provide a contact and email address who would accept and then post my
information to your list server,
3. or utilize internal means to disseminate my information to your club
members.

Distribution of emails will be kept at an absolute minimum. In the next
week or two, I would like to provide your club members with information
about how they can be apart of this year's telescope and binocular viewing
events and other relevant information about the Festival. I will also be
sending out a Doodle Poll where your club members can sign up for viewing
events with their respective telescopes and/or binoculars. I am hopeful
that this will be the extent of the communications, however there is always
the possibility that additional emails of instruction will be necessary.
In the interest of time, if you have a quick question and would like to
call me rather than email, please do not hesitate. You can reach my cell
at: 207-735-7745.

Thank you again for your understanding and timely response.

Sincerely,

Randy L. Ewins
Volunteer
Friends of Acadia
