Whether the weather for the star party at Damariscotta River Association on Saturday, October 5th, at 7:00pm? The conflicting predictions say either that it will be cloudless, but so humid as to keep the hair driers busy, or so cloudy as to nearly completely hide the sky. That does not sound encouraging, but predictions can be wrong. Expect another email with a decision by midday Saturday. Ever the optimists, we’re doubly hoping for good weather, because we anticipate being joined by a British astronomer who happens to be in the United States. After watching the Boston College Eagles football team thrash the Army earlier in the day, Owen H. hopes to observe under dark skies as he drives by on his way north. The light pollution and clouds are so discouraging in the United Kingdom that we truly wish him dark skies here. Such a shame if it should be cloudy!
