Saturday, June 28, 2014, 9:00pm (Earlier Setup Welcome)
Time to return to the glorious, coastal hillside with dark skies, clear sight-lines to the horizon’s distant mountains, and the occasional roaming sheep. Yeah, we know: It’s too far to drive, I don’t live nearby, I’ll catch the next party. Bah! Every intrepid traveler who has visited this nether reach of the realm has been thrilled to have made the trip. Besides, if we meet on Saturday, it will be not twenty minutes from The Old Professor’s Bookshop, which we know you’d never miss. Galaxy Quest may sit below the same stars as our other marvelous observing sites, but the land and observatory are uniquely spectacular, the big 18-inch Dob is an astronomer’s joy, and the evening is incomplete without you.
IMPORTANT: Whilst we hope to meet on Saturday to coincide with the discussion at the nearby bookshop, the star party may be moved to Friday or Sunday, if the weather so requires. This would, of course, not change the Saturday date of the discussion at The Old Professor’s Bookshop, but it may nix the solar viewing. In any case, checking the extended weather forecasts for the weekend, we do *not* anticipate dangerous cold or blowing snow to foil this party!
