Gosh, but we wish we could persuade more members to attend flash mobs! Last night at Lenny Arsenault’s observatory was among the best in ages. Lenny’s telescope is a wonderful combination of large and essentially perfect optically, his site is dark, and, per Brian’s suggestion to call the flash mob, the skies were steadier and clearer than one almost ever sees in Maine. The Veil Nebula, for example, appeared not as soft, barely visible whisps, but as surprisingly bright, well-defined strings of stardust, with twists and knots throughout. The company was great, but not as good as it might have been, because:
