Flashmob at Brower Observatory

In honor of a clear patch of sky and the loss of Daylight Savings Time bringing us earlier darkness, CMAS calls an early flashmob at Brower Observatory:

Flashmob Star Party at Brower Observatory

Sunday, November 4, 2018, 5:30pm (early setup, whenever!)

341 Route 126, Whitefield, ME 04353

Why? Because we can. The clouds (which never mislead us) have promised to vanish by 4:00pm, and to stay away until at least 8:00pm. After today, clouds all week! Colin will light a fire in the stove in CMAS’s Downstairs Annex, so that even if, due to a dishonest sky, observing’s flash were to become a fizzle, a good time would still be had by all. With telescopes in CMAS’s two domes ready to be opened to the sky, feel free to make this night easy. Bring your own telescopes if you like, or leave them at home. No worries about it being the night before the work week. If 5:30pm is too early for arrival, arrive a bit later, but not too late. This flashmob ends early, but—remember this time of year?—not before Orion, Andromeda, Auriga, and other favorites have risen overhead!
