Come and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo Lunar Landing in Hallowell Maine! We will be setting up at the Granite City Park at 7pm, the same location we observed the Mercury Solar transit in 2016. Bring a scope if you want, but none is necessary (folding chair might be useful). Jupiter will be visible 2.5° just to the West and there will be a shadow transit of Io to observe if conditions allow it. This is a gathering to allow the public to enjoy the views through our telescopes.
Come and join us for some fine dining in Hallowell before the event. Meet at the parking for the Hallowell Waterfront (right next to Granite City Park) @ 5:30pm. Saturday tends to be busy for restaurants so we can play it by ear depending on availability. The Liberal Cup is a favorite, but the Quarry Tap Room and many others are available within reasonable walking distance.
PS – Actual anniversary is on the 20th, but viewing at a reasonable hour would not be possible.
Please RSVP and let me know if you will bring a scope.
