So many Saturday nights have been lost to bad weather that the remarkably fine forecast for Wednesday night prompts CMAS to host an impromptu star party. We anticipate perfectly clear, steady skies.
This will be an extravaganza of fine optics, starting with the exceptional, giant Newtonian in the dome. On the ground, we’ll have a shootout between two four-inch refractors: An antique Unitron 152, the finest made in the 1970s, and a Takahashi Fluorite of more modern design, with an objective lens made from a special Fluorite crystal.
DIRECTIONS: Use the link above, or type the Google Maps Plus Code directly into Google Maps (either the Website, or the app on your phone). These will take you to the intersection of Route 126 and the access road to the observatory. Do not type the observatory’s address into Google Maps or other mapping programs, as that often finds incorrect locations.
