Hey; What’s That? A Partial Eclipse!

It appears the Gods of the Clouds intend to block from our view the eclipse of Sunday morning, November 3, 2013. For those who want to be ready in case we may be granted clemency, check out the latest creation of CMAS’s own Michael Kosowsky. His Web site, “Hey, What’s That?” has long been able to convert Google maps into profiles of horizons. This means it’s perfect for determining whether a potential site is suited to viewing the eclipse at sunrise. If you know that a site has no tall trees or buildings blocking the immediate view, Michael can spin Google to show whether the view to the horizon will allow a clear view of the eclipse. If there are mountains in the way, you’ll see ’em! The first link draws the horizon anywhere in the world. The second simulates the eclipse, so we can all see what we’ll most likely be missing!
