Astronomy Flashmob at Brower Tonight!

Sunday, April 23, 2017, 8:00pm — Brower Observatory
341 Route 126 (Jefferson Road), Whitefield, ME 04353

Join us tonight for a flash mob at Brower Observatory. A “flash mob” is a star party arranged on short notice when conditions are expected to too excellent to miss. It’s only coincidence that tonight’s comes one night after cancelling a regularly-scheduled star party, but it’s also good luck, since we’ll have extreme clarity on a dark night near the new moon.

Cars will need to park at Colin’s house. We’ll need to walk in from there, because the road to the observatory is still too muddy to drive. Bring only optics lightweight enough to carry that distance, or bring nothing, relying on Brower’s plentiful stock. Colin anticipates planetary viewing at its best, so he’ll mount the vintage 8″ f/8 Treckerscope, for detailed views of Jupiter, and maybe a last goodbye to Mars.
