Partial Solar Eclipse

Of all the world’s peoples, we in Maine are ideally placed to observe a partial eclipse of the Sun at sunrise on Sunday morning, November 3, beginning at about 6:15am. My eclipse simulating software suggests it should be spectacular, but if the clouds allow viewing, remember you will also need either some kind of solar filter or a means to project the image. Do not view this with your naked eyes, even through the early-morning haze if you may be tempted to think that’s okay! You will need a clear view of the Eastern horizon, or by the time the Sun clears the treetops, you’ll have missed the eclipse!
