Star Party at Galaxy Quest Observatory

On Saturday, July 22, 2017, CMAS returns to the crown jewel of the Eastern part of the realm. The wonders of Galaxy Quest are well known. Dark skies over a gentle hillside sloping down to the Atlantic Coast astride mountains. Jacob’s 18″ Big Dob coaxing formerly faint fuzzies into real objects in the eyepiece. Saturn above, with its rings wide open. What’s not to like? On Saturday, July 22, 2017, CMAS returns to the crown jewel of the Eastern part of the realm. The wonders of Galaxy Quest are well known. Although it’s always still a good gathering, attendance at Galaxy Quest has slipped some in the past few years. This may be related to the change in Galaxy Quest’s schedule, which has made it available for CMAS less often. Whatever it is, we’d like to fix it. If you used to be a regular at Galaxy Quest, please drop CMAS a line at MaineAstro@gmail.com, confirming that you’ll join us; or, if necessary, stating what we might be able to do to draw you back into the fold. CMAS wants to serve its members well, so if there is anything we need to know, we want to hear about it.
