CMAS During the Eclipse

With most of CMAS’s active observers away during the eclipse, we have not arranged for our club to host an event of its own. A possible exception could be CMASian telescopes congregating at the boardwalk in Hallowell, Maine. If the weather is so cloudy in South Carolina that Brian Murphy stays home, he will be there with at least one other member. If Brian travels to South Carolina, this party is off, unless another volunteer offers to host it.

Club liaison Dwight Lanpher sent email messages to all official members, listing various eclipse viewings throughout Maine. Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield, and the libraries in Winslow or Boothbay, are still seeking astronomers to interpret the eclipse and bring solar telescopes for a live eclipse viewing. Southern Maine astronomers will be at L.L. Bean in Freeport, and would doubtless be glad for all the help CMAS may be able to provide.
