CMAS Star Ski and Star Party at Brower Observatory

STARSKI AT BROWER

Saturday, March 17, 2018, 7:00pm — 11:00pm
Star Party at Brower Observatory
341 Route 126, Whitefield, ME 04353

This message confirms tonight’s star party. The clouds are clearing as I write. Tonight is forecast to be absolutely cloudless, so we will hunt for the Deep Space Objects that will soon vanish with the change of seasons, but that we have not seen due to this winter’s endless clouds. Spend the night at the eyepiece, or, optionally, join the one-and-a-half mile round-tip ski or snowshoe through Brower’s woods to Jones Hill.

BRING YOUR BATTERY PACKS AND HEADLAMPS

Brower Observatory and Colin’s house suffered a power failure this morning. Astronomy occurs in the dark anyway, and it’s likely that the power will be restored before tonight, so we are not letting this interfere with our plans. Still, we will need a bit of light to set up telescopes and some power to drive mounts, so bring your headlamps, red lamps, and battery packs if you have them. No worries about heat in the house: The wood stoves are running just as always.
