CMAS December Star Party — Confirmed!

Star Party at Brower Observatory

Saturday, December 8, 2018, 5:30pm (earlier setup welcome)

341 Route 126, Whitefield, ME 04353

Finally, good weather for a star party tonight! Assessing all the forecasts, CMAS wagers that skies ought to be clear until at least 9:00pm, by which time even the most intrepid of us may have had enough, given our early winter start. Ya never know: It may remain clear all night, so maybe we’ll just be starting Round Two by 9:00pm, after thawing out by the fire.

Dress warmly. Temperatures will be in the mid-teens, with a slight wind chill pushing the apparent temperature into the single digits. If bracing, winter air gives you pause, remember that it can be warmer inside Brower’s two domes than outside fiddling with telescopes on the ground. Snuggling into the right quilt could also warm your soul, while helping you to find the planets, and maybe an errant comet!
