Star Party for Children at Great Salt Bay Farm

Polish your optics for the delight of tonight’s grade-school-aged guests, the future astronomers of a rising generation.

Saturday, October 26, 2019, 7:00pm*
Star Party at Great Salt Bay Farm
110 Belvedere Road, Damariscotta, ME 04543

* Earlier setup always welcome!

The crowd may be as large as thirty or more people, between children and parents. CMAS needs you to power their stargazing at the Damariscotta River Association’s Great Salt Bay Farm. Bring your telescopes (and your step stools, if you have them), set your tripods low, and make their dreams come true. Per usual, there are conflicting weather forecasts, yet odds are that the clouds will depart late in the afternoon, revealing clear skies until late in the evening.

Dinner at Sarah’s in Wiscasset will begin at 5:00pm, half an hour earlier than reported previously. This allows dinner to start before Sarah’s becomes busy, and end in time to set up the star party while there is still sunlight:

Special thanks to CMAS astronomer Don McDaniels for arranging this event, and to Wayne Barber for hosting.

Great Salt Bay Farm is the same location that we always called “DRA” in the past. Now that the Damariscotta River Association has merged to form the larger Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust, we are adopting the new identity, to help our hosts transition their brand.
