Jacob Gerritsen invites everyone to Galaxy Quest Observatory, for a triple-feature within our double-feature! First, there are Galaxy Quest’s dark skies and spectacular scenery. Second, Jacob will be demonstrating his new Celestron StarSense Push-To Dob. Unlike prior telescopes that tried to borrow the brains in the phones we already have to point telescopes accurately, this one actually works! Third, Jacob’s new 60mm Takahashi will have a shootout against Jon’s antique 60mm Royal Astro Tasco. The Takahashi is unquestionably among the finest telescopes made today; the Royal Astro was among the best of the 1960s and early 1970s. Spoiler alert: The Takahashi’s near-perfect optics optimize what can be seen in so small an aperture, so the results promise to be surprising.
