Join CMAS and your host, Josh Zukerman, for a tour of the newly completed, roll-off roof observatory building at Foss Hill. We’ll be staring this star party early, so that we can see the building before darkness falls. If you can not arrive at 4:00pm, later arrival would be fine, but keep in mind that with the party starting earlier, it will end earlier, so you’ll not want to arrive too late.
Do bring your telescopes! The Foss Hill Observatory building itself is (99.99%) finished, but with the motor to open the roof and the telescopes yet to be installed, we’ll still need to bring portable optics.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS
This star party will be held at the observatory in the middle of the large field behind Josh’s house, not in Josh’s driveway as was common in the past. Use the link to Google Maps above, as Foss Hill is one of those locations that mapping software often gets wrong when found from the street address. Satellite view now shows the gravel-colored access road to the new observatory sweeping up and left on your display. It’s easy to find, because Foss Hill Lane actually ends at Josh’s house; it does not continue alongside the field as shown on Google Maps. Drive to the end of the lane, and then follow the gravel road just to the right of Josh’s paved driveway.
