The star party scheduled for Galaxy Quest this Saturday, February, 9, at 7:00pm, is hereby canceled due to the weather. The big storm coming our way looks too scary, regardless of whether it dumps ten inches or two feet of snow.
Thank you to everyone who committed to attending with scopes or as chaperones. The outpouring whenever CMAS hosts an evening for schoolchildren is heartening. A special thanks to our friends from The Downeast Amateur Astronomers and Acadia Astronomical Society, who were going to drive four and five hours round trip to help us. We even had a special donation from a CMAS member wintering down South, who sent extra money to buy cookies and cocoa!
This party for schoolchildren is being rescheduled for Saturday, April 6th, again at Galaxy Quest. That date was formerly scheduled for The Damariscotta River Association’s Land Trust, so we’ll consider rearranging the schedule to replace the lost party there.
Stay home, stay warm, stay well, and dream about clear skies!
Thank you,
Jon Silverman, President
Central Maine Astronomical Society
