The Central Maine Astronomical Society will hold a business meeting on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at 7:00pm, at Bombahook Observatory in Hallowell, Maine:

The sole purpose of this business meeting is to change CMAS’s Bylaws, so that future business meetings may be held on an as-needed basis, at times that are more convenient than is currently technically allowed. Under the current Bylaws, CMAS is required to conduct business on the second Tuesday of every month, and at no other times. The Bylaws Subcommittee recommends changing this, so that more members will be able to attend future business meetings held on an as-needed basis, and at whatever time is most convenient for the membership, such as on weekends.
If this measure passes, shortly thereafter, another business meeting will be announced for a convenient time, because the Board of Directors has many important issues to discuss with the membership. We have accomplished a great deal on its behalf, with the goal of improving the club. If the change does not pass, then a meeting will be called for the second Tuesday of the next available month.
Members whose 2018 dues are paid are eligible to vote to change the bylaws, so this would be an excellent time to renew dues, for those members who have not done so already. Dues remain a modest $20, and may be paid via PayPal at the “Donate” button at MaineAstro.com/membership, or in cash at the business meeting.

ARTICLE VII
PROCEDURE The goals of the organization shall be accomplished via the following means:
A. Regularly monthly meetings of the membership to be held on the second Tuesday of the month.
A. Membership meetings are to be scheduled as needed, but at least once per year, at a time and place to be determined by the Society’s Board of Directors. Members will receive a minimum of two week’s notification prior to each meeting.
