Stars Over Katahdin
Excited reports of those who have attended in the past rank Stars Over Katahdin as Maine’s best astronomy event, every year. Word is that the company is so good that one should travel to Mount Katahdin even if the weather is clearly hopeless. Attendees often include not only amateur astronomers, but major players in astronomy: editors of astronomy magazines, activists for dark skies, and the like. Assuming the cloudless nights that CMAS always guarantees, be ready to enjoy the darkest skies Maine has to offer, in a true wilderness setting. Official members of CMAS have seen the emails showing how some of us will be arriving several days early, to extend the one night of Stars Over Katahdin into a CMASian northwoods extravaganza in Baxter State Park and Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument!
