CMAS Star Parties and Covid-19

CMAS’s full board has not approved tonight’s star party at Foss Hill (Saturday, June 13, 2020).

CMAS can not host official star parties without first implementing protocols to inform members and guests about the risk of sharing telescopes, and to protect the well-being of those who respond to our invitations. In the dark, accidental contact between eyeball and eyepiece are common, and would be an efficient mechanism for transmitting Covid-19.

I will continue to work toward the Board’s finding a united stand on star parties, and will keep the club and public informed of our progress.
