Rescheduled: Star Party at the Railway Museum

Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum
Wednesday, November 11, 2026, 7:00pm
Alna Center Station, Alna Road / Route 218, Alna ME 04535

With rain expected to prevent this star party from happening on either of its originally planned dates, it has been rescheduled to the first available date that forecasts suggest should be clear. Unusually, it is a weekday night, but we already have enough astronomers committed to being there, and the railway believes it should still attract a good crowd of local train buffs.

Special note about the times! The train carrying the guests to the party will depart Sheepscot Station at 6:30pm, and arrive by train at the observing field at Alna Center Station at 7:00pm. This means that volunteer astronomers must be set up and ready for the crowds by 7:00pm. (Arrive as early as you like.) Any CMASians who would rather be guests and ride the train to the party will need tickets for the train, which will likely go on sale on Sunday, November 8.

The link for driving directions will take you to the start of the gravel access road into Alna Center Station. That is important, because there is no sign marking the road. As an early and important reminder, and in keeping with the landowner’s request in exchange for the railway being able to use the field for this star party, please do not drive onto the field. We will need to carry our telescopes those last few hundred feet.
